THE TRAINING
What makes our Playback Theatre/Listening Hour a transformative and impactful practice is the revelation of meaning. The meaning of the story, of the connections between the stories and of the event. This usually makes participants feel seen, heard, recognised and gives them a profound sense of belonging. It creates community!
If the meaning is then revealed artistically, this makes our event a pleasant experience that can communicate in the most universal way, to the entire audience, not just the teller. Artistry and the revelation of meaning are profoundly connected.
In this workshop, we will first train in uncovering the "hidden" meanings of the stories told in Playback Theatre and Listening Hour, working on the essences of stories and motivations that drive people to share.
Then, we will explore the world of metaphor, understanding how to transpose meaning into a universal, aesthetically pleasing message that transports us to the world of non-reality.
Finally, a section of the workshop will be dedicated to the Theory of Narrative Reticulation, where we will understand the mechanisms by which stories unfold in a Playback Theatre/Listening Hour event, which principles they follow and what we can do to influence them.
This workshop is open to anyone with at least one year of Playback Theatre experience or who is a certified Listening Hour Practitioner. LH Guides with no Playback Theatre experience may also participate, without necessarily having to go on stage, if they do not wish to.
BASIC INFO
DATES: February 20th, 21st and 22nd 2026.
Friday evening (6:00 PM - 9:00 PM);
Saturday and Sunday all day (9:00 AM - 12:00 AM + 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM),
Saturday evening there is going to be an optional performance by workshop participants from 8:30 PM to 10:00 PM.
LOCATION: UferStudios, 23 Uferstraße, Berlin, 13357, Germany.
COST: €230 / €200 / €170 / €140 scaling price, in accordance with our social impact policy.
A place on the course is offered in exchange for assistance with organization and a photoshoot.

I work as a meditation facilitator too, with focus on movement. I firmly believe that any practice, whether personal or communal, must bring us back to our bodies, the medium through which we experience life.
