May LAB: Mirroring Emotions with Playback Theatre

Why participating

When we improvise we are true, we are our authentic self.

And whatever we do on stage is, in some way, a reflection of what we do in our life, of who we are. Becoming aware of this is the only purpose of this course. Together, we are going to use Playback Theatre as a tool to become more aware of ourselves, more present and more whole.

Playback Theatre is a form of improvisational theatre where 4 actors and one musician improvise immediately stories shared by the audience. The process itself is a cycle, where the teller can see her/his/their story mirrored by the actors, watching her/his/their emotions be played back.

As we’ll keep on practicing, our companions are going to become our mirrors. Being part of an international group is an enriching experience, as it gives us the chance to include diversity in our discourse.

During this 5-meetings LAB, we are going to experiment each time with a different emotion, both through sharing stories about it and playing them back. These emotions are:

* FEAR

* ANGER

* SADNESS

* JOY

* COMPASSION
