[FREE TRIAL CLASS] Improv Theatre for Self Awareness

Improv Theatre for Self-Awareness

Why the class

When we improvise we are true, we are our authentic self.

And whatever we do on stage is, in some way, a reflection of what we do in our life, of who we are.

Becoming aware of this is the only purpose of this laboratory. Together, we are going to use improvisational theatre as a tool to become more aware of ourselves, more present and more whole.

We are going to use Meditation as preparatory work before getting into improvisation. By doing so, we are going to be more open to ourselves and others and access our interior resources more easily. In this way, we can deepen our experience and make it a discovery journey of our inner world, leaving our judgements, thoughts, ideas and beliefs behind.

When we are warmed-up enough, we are more receptive, compassionate, empathic, sensitive and open towards what is unknown, different or simply new. We can relate from a deeper place, connect and use the enactment and the interactions on the stage as tools to dig into our soul. In this way, we can learn how to accept and welcome every story, every offer and every emotion, embody it, play with it, own it and eventually let it go and come back to ourselves.

As a result, the improvisation itself will become a Meditation.

Anyway, this will be done without any pressure or goal. It’s not a serious process, it’s just an opportunity to be curious, discover and be amazed by what harbours within ourselves. Everybody will be invited to participate at their own pace,  to respect their needs and to go as far as they are comfortable to.

As we keep on practicing, our companions are our mirrors. Being part of an international group is an enriching experience, as it gives us the chance to include diversity in our discourse. Being reflected by people who can be very different from us, makes the work juicy and interesting. Understanding that each one of us is a world in her/his/theirselves helps us to suspend judgement and meet other people from a space of acceptance and empathy.

Surprisingly, becoming aware of our uniqueness reminds us that we are all one in our humanity.
